Welcome to Deputy Dennis Lea's page.

On any given school day there are over 1000 souls on the Valley Springs School campus. The most cherished and valued members of our community are gathered on this small area of Boone County.  We require them to attend school. Therefore they deserve a school that is safe, secure, and peaceful. In the course of my duties I hope that the students and staff not only feel safe and secure, so they can better teach and learn, but that they are. I ask that you partner with me and the Valley Springs School staff in providing our children and growing young adults with the comfort of knowing their school is safe by notifing me of anything you feel necessary.

The educators and I share the common goal of positive youth development. Therefore, I actively support the war on drugs. I fight on the side against any youth addiction, destructive behavior, or any form of legalization or decriminalization of illegal drugs. Our central mission is student success. It is my belief that when a student succeeds, our community succeeds; and student success contributes to community safety.  Successful students make positive contributions not only within their schools, but become productive citizens in our larger community.  My definition of a successful student is a drug free student.  Therefore, I will actively seek help with my effort of mantaining a campus where our youth are not endangered by drugs being available at school. I have a zero tolerance for drugs on campus and will promptly arrest any offender. I present destructive behavior prevention courses to our students in which the reality of drug, alcohol and tobacco use and addiction is discussed.
